FAQ

What's e-works v3.9?
e-works v3.9 is an integrated "software only" platform designed for professional videocommunication, sharing data, documents and applications over the Internet. The only one of its kind in the industry of desktop videoconference systems, e-works v3.9 offers the same quality as the dedicated "set top box" systems but at a fraction of their cost and with none of the technical and logistic issues of dedicated hardware. The audio and video quality is only limited by the Internet connection band availability on participants side and by the quality of the multimedia devices involved: these can be both normal webcams and microphones and high quality devices, such as professional cameras used in conjunction with room audio and video systems in order to achieve telepresence participation standards.
How can I integrate e-works in my IP-PBX, CMS or e-learning solution?
e-works v3.9 platform exposes an Application Program Interface (API) which allows third party systems to access to all audio, video and multipoint collaboration resources and facilities. e-works v3.9 comes with a compatibility bridge towards H.323 and SIP worlds.
Can I distribute e-works v3.9 with my brand?
Yes, in OEM mode, that is inside appliances or servers where the platform server is preinstalled. In this way, the IP-PBX solution vendor can put his brand on the appliance and include the brand inside the web platform and the client. On demand, e-works can supply the finished appliance product, with graphics personalizations and support/replacement services when needed.
What are the key features of e-works v3.9?
See the Features page.
What are the technical requirements for e-works v3.9?
  • Minimum client hardware requirements:
    Cpu: P4 3 Ghz;
    Ram: 512 MB
  • Minimum client software requirements:
    OS: MS Windows XP, MS Windows Server 2003, MS Windows Vista.
    Browser: MS IE 6.0 or better, Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or better
  • Minimum client connectivity requirements:
    The band required for taking part in a meeting depends on the actual number of participants, the type of data they transmit (audio/video/data sharing) and the maximum band defined for each individual transmission flow or “bitrate”. The bitrate values that can be used are defined for each individual user (1 transmission flow (bitrate) = 1 participant). By way of example: for a conference of 3 persons with a 128 kbps bitrate setting during which all the users transmit audio, video information and data, each participant must have a band of at least 128 kbps on the upload and a band of at least 256 kbps on the download (128 x 2).
  • Minimum server hardware requirements:
    Cpu: P4 3 Ghz;
    Ram: 1 Gb
  • Minimum server software requirements:
    MS Windows XP, MS Windows Server 2003
  • Minimum server connectivity requirements:
    The bandwidth required for server side hosting of a meeting depends on the number of participants in the meeting, the type of data they transmit (audio/video/data sharing) and the maximum band defined for each individual transmission flow or "bitrate". Since the connectivity requirements (in both the upload and download modes) are greater than those of the clients, it is advisable to equip the server with broadband access to the Internet (HDSL or fiber).
